    How can we work together if we're not "face to face"?

  It's easy! All you need is a phone, computer or fax machine.Since July 2004, my phone business has gained enormous popularity. I encourage you to give it a try!

    How can I change the way I look at weight loss?  
A :  
  I know, from personal experience, that you have to give up on "fast and easy" diets. They don't work and can actually make your weight problem worse! 

Why? 

Diets focus your attention on the diet. So, while you're on the diet, you feel like you're accomplishing something, but, it's an illusion. 

An illusion? What do you mean by that?

Even if your diet is a "success" when it ends, you're doomed to return to your old, self-destructive eating habits. That's why dieters nearly always find themselves regaining the weight they've lost and more! The real issue is actually your off-diet behaviors.

In order to achieve genuine weight loss success, you need to change the behaviors that lead to destructive choices.

Together, one-on-one, we will work to create a practical, realistic and healthy program, one you can stick with for life.

  What does "balanced nutrition" mean?
A :  
  Consider this; the opposite of balanced nutrition is a fad diet. Fad diets are "gimmicky." Some encourage unhealthy food choices or provide pseudo-scientific jargon designed to make you believe they offer the "magic formula" for weight loss. Healthy weight loss can only be achieved by eating well in a balanced way. Together, we will design a weight loss/nutrition-based program that is balanced, realistic and customized to your needs.

    Do I have to exercise? I hate exercise!
  A :  
    I know, the word exercise can send shivers down your spine. But, we all need to do it in some form. 

Why?

Simple: Food is fuel. 

The less fuel you "burn" the more likely you are to gain weight. This is why exercise is key to successful weight loss and its maintenance.

Exercise does not have to be something you dread.

We will identify your likes and dislikes, and slowly build a personalized exercise program, based on your preferences -- one you can stick with for life.

  So, do I weigh myself once a week?
A :  
  I know from experience that the scale only sets us up for failure! 

If you're currently using a scale -- throw it out -- smash it with a sledgehammer -- anything, just get rid of it!

To chart your progress I suggest you use a measuring tape and a "before" photograph.

  How do I begin?
A :  
  I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation. During this session we will determine your personal needs. My program is highly individualized. If you decide to sign up for my program, I will ask you to commit to at least four one-hour sessions. 
 
Q :  
  After I've completed the four one-hour sessions, then what?
A :  
  After that, you and I will determine how much more support and motivation you need. That evaluation will dictate how many more sessions you require, what the focus of those sessions will be, and whether they will be in one hour or half hour blocks. I can’t tell you specifically how long we will be working together because my program is so individualized. Length of commitment varies from person to person.
